Dog Training Services

Introduction

These Terms & Conditions apply to all dog training and behaviour services provided by THE BARNET DOG CO ("we", "us", "our") to clients ("you", "your").

By booking a consultation, training session, or training programme, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. These terms are designed to ensure a safe, effective, and positive training experience for both dogs and owners.

Our Services

THE BARNET DOG CO provides professional dog training and behaviour support services designed to help owners develop communication, confidence, and a positive relationship with their dog.

Our services may include:

  • Puppy training

  • Basic obedience training

  • Recall training

  • Lead etiiquette skills

  • Socialisation guidance

  • Behaviour support

  • Reactivity training

  • Resource guarding training 

  • Confidence building

  • Bespoke training programmes

Training methods and recommendations will always be based on the individual needs of the dog and their circumstances.

Training Outcomes

Every dog is an individual and responds differently to training.

While THE BARNET DOG CO will provide professional guidance, support, and training strategies, we cannot guarantee specific results or timeframes.

Progress depends on multiple factors including:

  • The dog's age, temperament, history, and experiences

  • The consistency of training outside of sessions

  • The owner's commitment and ability to apply guidance

  • The dog's environment and lifestyle

Successful training requires ongoing practice and involvement from the owner.

Owner Commitment and Participation

Dog training is a partnership between the trainer, the owner, and the dog.

Owners are expected to:

  • Attend sessions where required

  • Participate actively during training

  • Practise recommended exercises between sessions

  • Follow safety and management guidance

  • Provide updates regarding progress or concerns

For puppy and foundation training programmes, owner involvement is essential as the focus is not only on training the dog but also teaching owners how to maintain good habits long-term.

Behaviour Disclosure

You must provide accurate information regarding your dog's behaviour, history, and temperament before training begins.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Reactivity towards dogs, people, or other animals

  • Fearful behaviour

  • Resource guarding

  • Aggression

  • Bite history or attempted bites

  • Anxiety-related behaviours

  • Previous training methods used

Failure to disclose relevant information may affect the safety and suitability of the training programme.

Safety and Risk Management

The safety of dogs, owners, members of the public, and the trainer is a priority.

THE BARNET DOG CO reserves the right to:

  • Modify exercises or training plans

  • Change the location of sessions

  • Recommend additional professional support

  • Pause or end training where there is a safety concern

Clients must follow all safety instructions provided during sessions.

Dogs remain the responsibility of the owner at all times unless otherwise agreed.

Children and Additional Attendees

Anyone under the age of 18 must not attend training sessions. 

Anyone under 18 must remain supervised at all times and must not be left responsible for handling or managing a dog during sessions.

Children or additional attendees must not cause distractions that interfere with the structure, safety, or effectiveness of the session.

THE BARNET DOG CO reserves the right to pause or adjust a session if distractions prevent safe or productive training.

Please notify us in advance if additional people will be attending.

Equipment and Training Tools

Owners are responsible for providing suitable equipment for their dog unless otherwise agreed.

THE BARNET DOG CO may recommend changes to equipment where we believe it will improve safety, communication, or training outcomes.

Any equipment recommendations are provided based on professional judgement and should be used responsibly.

Health Requirements

Dogs attending training must be fit and healthy enough to participate.

Owners must inform THE BARNET DOG CO of:

  • Medical conditions

  • Injuries

  • Medication

  • Mobility issues

  • Health concerns affecting behaviour or participation

Dogs showing signs of contagious illness should not attend sessions. Please remember that this is an essential part as sessions can always be postponed till safe to complete. I have many clients to think about and it's unfair to all if everyone's affected by your decision. 

Bookings and Payment

All bookings are subject to availability.

A booking is confirmed once deposit has been received or an agreed payment arrangement has been made.

Payment must be made according to the agreed payment terms.

Failure to make payment may result in services being postponed or cancelled.

Cancellation and Rescheduling

We understand that circumstances can change. However, appointments and training spaces are reserved specifically for you.

Cancellations or requests to reschedule must be made as soon as possible.

For Training programmes costing more than £200, cancellations made within 72 hours of the scheduled booking date will require payment of 50% of the total service cost.

Missed appointments or cancellations outside of the agreed notice period may be charged in full where appropriate.

THE BARNET DOG CO will make reasonable efforts to offer alternative appointment dates where possible.

Training Programme Expiry

Training programmes must be completed within the agreed timeframe unless otherwise discussed.

Failure to attend scheduled sessions or maintain communication may result in the programme being considered complete.

Photography and Marketing

With your permission, photographs or videos may be taken during training sessions for:

  • Training records

  • Progress updates

  • Educational purposes

  • Marketing materials

Permission can be withdrawn at any time by contacting THE BARNET DOG CO.

Liability

THE BARNET DOG CO takes every reasonable precaution to provide safe and professional training.

However, owners remain responsible for their dogs at all times.

We are not responsible for injury, damage, or loss caused by a dog unless resulting from proven negligence.

Owners are responsible for ensuring that information provided about their dog is accurate and complete.

We recommend that all clients maintain appropriate pet insurance.

Data Protection

Personal information is collected and processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Information provided will only be used for delivering services, communication, record keeping, and meeting legal obligations.

Refunds

Due to the personalised nature of dog training services, refunds are not generally available once training has commenced.

Any exceptional circumstances will be considered individually.

Changes to These Terms

THE BARNET DOG CO reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions when necessary.

The latest version will always be available through our website.
